The Central Energy Fund (CEF) is involved in the search for appropriate energy solutions to meet the future energy needs
of South Africa, the Southern African Development Community and the sub-Saharan African region, including oil, gas,
electrical power, solar energy, low-smoke fuels, biomass, wind and renewable energy sources.
CEF is a private company. The one share issued is held by the State and the company is therefore controlled by the Minister of Minerals and Energy.
CEF is in partnership with C&EO (Pty) Ltd and currently own a 49% stake in some of the projects.
Enviroplus Energy (EPE) is a specialist company operating under the Enviroplus Design Group. EPE was formed to exploit the
opportunities for production of electrical and thermal energy from biological processes through the supply, commissioning
and ongoing operation of Combined Heat and Power systems to site owners. These include:
- Landfill sites
- Sewerage farms
- Agricultural and other waste providers
EPE’s international technological partner is TEDOM (see below for more details).
Health Industrial Occupation (HINDOC) is a black economic empowerment company that seeks to gain economic equality for
historically disadvantaged individuals through health and safety services which include:
- Education and training programmes
- Environmental, health and safety auditing and compliance monitoring
- Environmental impact assessments (EIA)
- Lung function tests (spirometry)
- Social responsibility programmes
Open Access Industrial Training College (OAITC) is registered with the Services SETA and companies undergoing training
through OAITC may claim back the allowable portion of their skills development levy. OAITC offers Environmental, Health
and Safety courses at various NQF levels and covering a number of topics.
OAITC offers, not only on site training ourselves, but also train-the-trainer at a company, who then presents OAITC courses using OAITC materials. OAITC audits the licensed trainer periodically, moderates test papers and issues certificates to learners who successfully complete courses.
TEDOM is a manufacturer and operator of quality, highly-efficient technology for the combined production of electricity
and heat. Based in the Czech Republic, TEDOM is one of Europe’s largest green-energy producers and focuses
specifically on projects that lead to savings in fuel resources. TEDOM products and services are in operation in more than
30 countries world wide. These include:
- The development, manufacture and sale of cogeneration units
- Reconstruction and operation of heating-energetics systems and central heating sources
- Bio-digesters
- Specialist engines

Thermopower Process Technology (TPT) is a technology provider with a focus on dealing with hazardous waste.
TPT is currently the only company in South Africa that has the capability to permanently dispose of halogenated organic waste. The only available alternative waste-treatment options in South Africa are exportation of, or encapsulation of chemical and hazardous waste which just delays the problem for future generations to deal with.
The technology used is also capable of converting biomass to energy in the form of heat or electricity.
Tx Solutions focuses on supplying software development solutions for organisations. These range from custom developed
stand-alone applications to internet based applications.
